Mitchell's passion for filmmaking sparked at the age of five when he began creating stop-motion animations using toys and anything else he could find in his bedroom. He often borrowed his brother's video camera without permission, secretly immersing himself in the creative process that brought him joy and fulfillment. It was during these formative years that he realized the profound impact of every frame and the storytelling potential of visual media.

In high school, Mitchell began producing videos for businesses, brands, and bands, quickly gaining traction. He also established his YouTube channel, MitchGFilms, in 2009, which has nearly 4,000 subscribers to date. Since then, his work has garnered over 15 million views on YouTube and continues to grow.

In 2024, Mitchell, alongside co-director of photography John Dempsey, won the “Best Cinematography” award for their work on the indie short film “Watchful Eye” at the prestigious Burbank International Film Festival.
